This is a question Random Acts of Evil

Mr Twisty Cheeky asks: As a contrast to last week's question - Has anyone ever been evil to you, out of the blue, for no reason? Have you ever been total twuntcake against all logic?

A few months ago.
I'd pulled in at a the hardware store, it was a windy day and as I opened my door the wind caught it and it dinged the car next to me's door. Not hugely but badly enough.
I wrote them a note leaving my name and number explaining what I had done, did my shopping and waited a few minutes after I came out in case they had finished theirs then I made sure the note was still safely tucked under their wiper & then left.
They rang me that night. Even tho we were both insured we decided not to claim as the excess would probably be about the same as if not more than the cost to fix it. They got a quote and I spoke to a panel beater mate describing the damage - we agreed on a price.
I posted them a postal order for the money and since I had caused them some trouble dinging their new car with my old bomb I put a $1 lottery scratchie ticket in with the money order. I got a phone call back a couple of days later thanking me as they had fixed the ding and won $50 on the scratchie.

Random evil bastards never once offered me a cut of the prize money. I want my $25, the cost of the lottery ticket and the postal order back now thanks.

That was truly
evil.

You are headed for the crimson lake, young man.

I'm pretty sure there's a special 8th level just for me.
& thank you - it's been a looong time since someone called me "young man".

they were probably just fucking with you
personally i'd have said i'd won a grand or something

I'm guessing they probably won the max. $10000
but didn't want to tell me.
I could go all CSI on them and get the ticket dusted for fingerprints or something.

My girlfriend sometimes grabs a couple of scratchcards
When she's out at the shops. One for her, one for me. Not that I care for gambling much. I sometimes wonder how exactly it would play out if I scratched mine and won the jackpot.

I don't.

I'd spend every last penny on Lego,
and then pretend I'd won a Lego competition in the paper.
(, Tue 21 Feb 2012, 9:21, closed)
I'd probably just not tell her

(, Tue 21 Feb 2012, 9:26, closed)
Yeah, but...
Lego?
(, Tue 21 Feb 2012, 9:36, closed)
I know!

Awesome ruse that I shall use upon winning the Euromillions.

The year before last in November my daughter won the "Lucky Tree" - 50 $1 scratchies at her school fair.
Everytime we won we would reinvest that amount of $1 scratchies. We strung this out till May.
I reckon we went thru at least another 150 tickets, won about AUD$300-$400 but the largest amount we won was only $4.
Something tells me the game is rigged.

All for $1 at the school fair Lucky Dip.

It's not that the games is rigged,
just that the chances of you winning anything substantial are very small.

I once wasted a lunch-hour on scratchcards, just so I could chat to the girl behind the counter. Utterly pointless, but I think I only lost my initial £1 stake.

On the rare occasion that I do invest in a scratchcard
I always pick the one with the lowest jackpot, so one with a max prize of £6000 or something as opposed to the £100,000 national lottery one. The logic being that there ‘should’ be a larger pool of smaller prizes instead of just one or two cards in the whole country with a hundred grand on them and far fewer smaller prizes. My logic has in the past been known to be flawed however so I await criticism and correction shortly.

How is your daughter's gambling habit going?
I hope you taught her that she is obviously due a big pay off soon which will be the game changer.
(, Tue 21 Feb 2012, 12:27, closed)
Yeah good.
She's picking up lots of good tips at GA.
