Rubbish Towns
I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.
Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Just to restore some Karma
and to point out to those smug holier-than-thou types who say that "everywhere is shit" etc that it's not true:
Nice towns in the UK that I have visited:
* Tonbridge
* Warwick
* Stirling
* Ironbridge
* Dorking
* Exeter
These places (as far as I can tell) are not crap. In fact they are well worth a visit. And they put places like King's Lynn ("aaaar yow laucle?") Basingstoke and Aldershot into pretty sharp relief.

In agreement
with Stirling. Lovely town, lovely people, lovely countryside around it.
Just generally lovely.

Exeter
Yes indeed. The roads which surround it create a miasma of filth otherwise unknown in the South West. Also, Heavitree and Pinhoe both suck serious ass, even if only passing through. Admittedly, I have an unnaturally negative bias toward Exeter due to being forced to live there for a year or so on an abortive degree attempt.

Nice
castle, nice river, acceptable shops, more than most towns have to their name.

The West
All the cities in the West are pretty nice, I think. Live in Bath at the moment, and it's lovely. It's only real fault is a bit of a shit night life, but twenty minutes away there's Bristol, which suffers no such problem.
Exeter is quite pretty if a bit rah for my taste, and the entire population of Plymouth seem to be gorgeous. I spent a day there once and didn't see a single Minger.
