Speaking of marked down stuff in shops
It's all a case of timing. I went in Asda once and bought about £40 worth of meat for about £15, and it all went in the deep freeze. Didn't buy meat again for about 3 weeks.

But, if you want a lavish treat, then go in Waitrose about an hour before closing. The deli, patisserie and fish counters have some outrageous reductions. And being Waitrose, there aren't loads of smelly vultures picking through them whilst the yellow ticket man tries to fight them off.
I've had a £10 lobster for £2.50, A full £8 mint choc-chip cheescake for £2 and countless portions of quality cheeses, pies, cold meats and paté all for about 30% of the usual price.
In some cases, you might end up paying about the same price for something similar from Tesco etc, but the quality is so much better.

They had stupid reductions. Som stuff as cheap as 10%. For example, chicken saag ready meals, 29p.

I was buzzing. Ended up buying enough nonsense to fill the whole freezer. however, it is located in an area densely populated with Jews and they really will shoulder barge you out the way to get that 60p 12" Sloppy Guisseppe.

I nipped in my local Waitrose for a couple of bits the other night and got on a checkout where the lady in front of me had purchased every red ticket item she could find. I watched each item go through and at the end she had a small trolly filled up with enough to feed herself easily for maybe two weeks. Her sum total? Just under 40 quid. Going to keep an eye out for these now.

Is this the Waitrose in Cottingham?
We used to pop in there for a treat sometimes when we lived in Beverley.

My main reason for visiting at Christmas time was to get a bottle of Fullers Vintage Ale to sup with my Christmas cake...

I tend to find it less expensive to avoid the place altogether though.

It's in Willerby retail park
next door to a branch of Iceland and Homebase (I think). I'm sans vehicle now so I can't get up there.
