Our sadistic teachertook us (a bunch of 8-9 year olds) on a 13-mile hike. Most of us had never walked more than a mile or 2 to/from school (those of us without Chelsea Tractors of course).
These days, the kids & parents would be suing for human rights abuse!
Edit: length? wouldn't have minded if the walk hadn't been so long
