I was protected by my own stupidity.I had heard that there was an imaginary friend in Fight Club (actually, through the medium of an argument that Edward Norton is really just Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes, grown up). I spent most of the movie thinking "well, when's this imaginary friend going to turn up then?"
