This is a question DIY Techno-hacks

Old hard drive platters make wonderfully good drinks coasters - they look dead smart and expensive and you've stopped people reading your old data into the bargain.

Have you taped all your remotes together, peep-show-style? Have you wired your doorbell to the toilet? What enterprising DIY have you done with technology?

Extra points for using sellotape rather than solder.

Here is my geek lab!

Lets see, in this picture you can see:

An Oscilloscope,
Bench Power Supply,
Multimeter (with PC interface)
PIC Programmer.

Here is a selection of some stuff I have built:

I also have a soldering iron, and a cupboard full of electrical components.

Well, that's very nice
But have you made anything with it?

Does it go 'beep' like in the movies when you push the buttons?

Geek lab
An Oscilloscope how cool, as a teenager I had 2 old 70's models. Not being very clever I plugged my stereo in to them and watch the wavy lines.

Cool
I have done that too!

I thought this was techno-hacks
not 'look at my rig/toolbox/expensive toys' etc.
(, Fri 21 Aug 2009, 22:10, closed)
I though that too
I guess just one story of "I designed and, with appropriate hardware and an apparent eye for detailing, built a perfectly adequate solution to a problem I wasn't having" isn't going to destroy the QOTW is it
