Teenage Crushes - Part Two
Freddie Woo writes: I've still got weird feelings for a well-known female TV presenter from the 1980s. I'm now in my forties, work in the same building as her and she follows me on a number of social networking sites. And now, she knows about it.
Tell us about the teenage crushes that still make you go wobbly.

Rule Britannia!
This happened this year, the day before my birthday... Ok, I was turning 27, so not exactly a teenager, but it was (and still is) definitely a crush.
I was sitting in my parents house with my soon-to-be-husband and my mother, talking about cycling, whisky, and whatever other shit passed through our minds. The Last Night of the Proms was on the TV in the background - we weren't paying much attention to it at that point, but we were looking forward to seeing his almightyness David Attenborough playing the vacuum-cleaner. The concert drew to an end, it was nearly time for the climax of "Rule Britannia".
And then it happened. Sarah Connolly, a contralto more famous for her exemplary performances in baroque and early classical opera, strode onto the stage. In full, male, naval uniform. Crisp white breeches, shiny black leather shoes, a close-cut jacket that Beau Brummel would have wept tears of joy at, and a tricorn perched atop her head. She's not a beautiful woman, but by god she's a handsome one. She stalked out onto the stage, glaring all the while, and languidly cast her eyes over the audience and orchestra. It was at that point that I felt a thrill run through my body. That evening, clad in her close-fitting man's uniform, she was a goddess.
My fiance didn't share my feelings, but then I'm fairly relieved he didn't get turned on by a fairly masculine-looking woman dressed as a man. However, I've discussed this with several friends of mine (all musicians, as I am) and they all agreed: she was HOT.
