He increased in value
by about £228 in that queue (& could have saved that £350 by waiting another 10 minutes...)
If he was in HN for over 1.5hrs (including the 25 minute queue) he'd still be making a profit on that visit even after he paid for the clothes.

That doesn't really make sense.
Unless they pay him extra to go to Harvey Nicks as opposed to, say, sitting at home for example.
