This is a question Tightwads

There's saving money, and there's being tight: saving money at the expense of other people, or simply for the miserly hell of it.

Tell us about measures that go beyond simple belt tightening into the realms of Mr Scrooge.

To be honest...
... Once you find one and have a good spot to park up, you'll probably just keep going back to that one, or have a few to go to.

I did this too. But only because I was in the middle of switching broadband provider and was offline for about 2 weeks :)

As well as grabbing a bit of net access, once i did a port scan and found a PC with some open shares, who had a whole host of movies downloaded on it. No doubt to share with other machines in the house.. Leeeeeeeech time :D I put him a few other ones back though :) I thought he might have appreciated a bit of bang bus. Oh and once I found dogporn, but thats another story for another qotw.

Yeah, but who in their right mind wants to do all their internettin'.
in a car in the dead of night up some back alley?

Exactly
It sucks, it was just temporary whilst Tiscali, BT and Plus Net sorted their arses out.

Ive had the pleasure of internetting and leeching from the comfort of my own home via huge extension aerials and stuff, and the signal has always been unrelibale. Plus that day comes when they turn their AP off and suddenly no net. The nets far too important to me. I will always pay for my own connection.
