This is a question Travel

I've had guns pointed at me in many different countries, sometimes even by our own side. I've also sat on my own on a beach on a desert island, which was nice because nobody was trying to shoot me. Tell us your tales of foreign travel.

Thanks to SnowytheRabbit for the suggestion

I presume he's talking about mushy peas.
It's quite a good story.
You must be a moron.

He's pretending to be Peter Mandelson
it's not very funny, though.

Bing!
Give that b3tan a carrot.

It's an apocryphal story, given legs by Mandy going to the lengths of writing a newspaper column to deny it.

More likely origin is that it was a US-originating party worker

The point of his story is he believed that living in London hadn't changed him,
but he ordered a G&T when his boss ordered beer, and he believed that mushy peas (which are commonly served with fish & chips and often taste vinegary) were guacamole.
This could possibly be a reference to Channel 4's Location, Location, Location branding Middlesbrough the worst place to live in the UK, and the rant that sports presenter Jeff Stelling replied with during which he made reference to Southerners calling mushy peas "guacamole".
