This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

Favourite childhood toy
What always brings a huge smile to my face is Lego. I honestly believe that its the greatest toy you could ever have. Just one small kit with some imagination equals months of fun.

I cant imagine childhood without it

(and i still have a HUGE box of it under my bed which i occasionally craft into an intersteller space fighter....and make the noises as i run around the room shooting the imaginary laser)

Lego is one of the few quality toys still around today
As you've said, I spent many happy hours constructing whatever my imagination desired as a child. Cue 12 years ago, I had a child of my own. I started him off with Duplo as a tot (the choke-friendly toddler version) then introduced him to Proper Lego. Hours upon months upon years of healthy fun.
These days, it's hard to find a plain box of Lego. Mostly they come in themes now, such as Star Wars (nothing wrong with that) but half the pieces are taylor-made to the theme, leaving little to ingenuity.

Having said that, I adore the Lego Star Wars game for xbox360 et al.... My son borrowed it from our neighbour and I couldn't get enough....

*click* coz Lego bricks ;o)

Yep

One of mine had this for his birthday....he lost his temper with the instructions because he'd worked out what to do next, carried on without checking and then realised the entire body section was on upside down...PJM ended up doing it....Hours of fun.

Lego
Truly the finest toy ever - *gets on soapbox*

You can make any other toy you want out of it, then when you are bored, make a new one! I too have all my Lego stored safely for sportscalf (when she's old enough)

Sportscow, currently being watched over by a Lego yoda at work!

Ah yes, LEGO
Truly a toy where you can let your imagination run away. Nowadays, leaving the taylour-made themed LEGO aside, they make much cooler LEGO sets than they did back when I played with it. When I have kids, I'm going to get them a Lego Mindstorms kit. This will give me the excuse I need to get back into LEGO and also so I can play with my kids. I'm going to be the coolest dad ever.

Lego FTW!
I spent most of my childhood in Denmark where playing with Lego is actually the law.

Nowadays, I have 2 giant boxes of Lego in storage at my Mum's house, and do get a bit upset if I don't get at least a small kit for Christmas/Birthday.

*adds Lego to the list of stuff to save!*
