I don't mind people having irrational beliefs.I simply object to religious beliefs having any influence above and beyond that given to any other irrational basis for ethics: gut feelings, intuition, "what my granny told me", horoscopes, tree-hugging hippyism.
If he wants to waste his life as a recluse talking to an imaginary sociopath then that's none of my concern. That's far less damaging than his position in the 'real' world which was verging close to theocracy.
