I suspect it was more frustration than anything else. In terms of architecture it started out ahead of the PC and with more potential. However, for whatever reason developments didn't really happen. No matter how much better the hardware and OS are when you are comparing to something with 10 times the resources the comparison won't look good.

However, if you've been using a system since the early days it isn't easy to admit the potential that was there has been squandered, plus there is always the hope that something new will happen.
