This is a question Unemployed

I was Mordred writes, "I've been out of work for a while now... however, every cloud must have a silver lining. Tell us your stories of the upside to unemployment."

You can tell us about the unexpected downsides too if you want.

Does anyone else remember the story
about the unemployed man from Cobh in Ireland who won the Irish lottery?

The first thing he did was buy the premises of the job centre and double their rent.

Can't find the damn thing online but I distinctly remember reading it.

The story comes from the wonderful
book "The Road to McCarthy" by the late lamented Mr McCarthy himself. Both his books are well worth reading.

Basically, having won the lottery, Vincent Keaney bought the job centre to turn it into the Titanic Bar - as previously, the job centre had been the last departure point for the ship before it sunk.

You can find more on line, but basically the venture closed after 3 years.
