Work this one out.If you had a rope around the Earth's equator (why you would I don't know but stick with it) and you added a metre to its length by how much would it be raised off the ground if it was then held at a constant height above the Earth's surface (or by what value does its radius change if you prefer)?
Someone asked us this question in the common room at uni. We sat down and worked it out and couldn't believe the answer, though it makes sense if you think about it.
