For what it's worth
I've never had any problem with Orange. That said, I'm Pay As You Go not Contract. Never had any spam. Only time I called them was when I got a new sim card (old one wore out) and they suggested I go for a new plan. I was dubious to say the least but after running some numbers through in my head it made sense to switch. So I did. Still only pay a tenner a month :)

Been with Orange for nine years
Both phone and broadband. Never once had anything but excellent service off 'em. Even when I got pissed and lost my brand new Nokia a few years back, they had a replacement couriered to me within a day.
