This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

Why is it
that more people don't know that the egg obviously came before the chicken?

The egg came before chicken coz the egg got laid.

The same people tend to ask the question
"if we are decended from monkeys why are there still monkeys around?"

the delectible Dr Alice Roberts answered that quite well on BBC2 Monday night BTW

Because the question is poorly phrased, in an attempt to appear simple, yet still be confusing.
The answer to the question "What came first, the creature that lays eggs, or the creature that is birthed from an egg?" is more obvious and leads to the answer of the earlier question by making apparent that you do not require a chicken to lay the egg which hatches to produce a chicken.

[Having just read this back, it's clear that this is a poorly phrased response, which has failed to clarify anything. Ho hum.]
