Ford Fairlane?In my admitted ignorance of the character or story, this sounds like either a tribute to, or a rip-off of Douglas Adam's Ford Prefect.
Alien stranded on earth?
Named after a car, having mistaken Earth's dominant life form?
Edit: Aww, don't tell me, Ford Prefect was named Ford Fairlane (sic) for the 'Merkins who would not clock the joke. TBH, once I started reading HHG2G I'd never heard of a Ford Prefect either.
