If you don't look at it that way you will slowly go mental. I too brought my house in 2007 and consider it my home a lot more than an investment. I probably won't be able to move for another ten years, so i just try and make the best of what I have by doing the place up. In ten years the market should have picked up and look on the bright side, at least you didn't buy to let.

I now have to eat cardboard with catchup just to not lose the insane amount of money I put down on it. Meanwhile, the neighbors have new cars, a jetski and a boat, are a year behind on payments and have got a government modification on their loan. I'm told I'm not "diverse" enough and the program was meant for those on hard times (did I mention they both work and live NEXT DOOR?)

I wish I'd sold my flat in 2007 (they've dropped about 30k+ since) but hell at least I still have a home!
