When the London bombings kicked off
I was on my way down the M5 for a day out at Weston. At one point on the M5 southbound there's a single information board which says the status of the roads going to London. It simply said "LONDON: MAJOR INCIDENT TURN ON RADIO"

unfortunately I was in someone elses car who thinks listening to the news is "only for sad people and grannys, innit" so I couldn't find out what was happening

That's a good story,
I was on here when the bombings happened, which meant I knew everything that happened almost instantly.

and 9/11 I had just flown out of Los Angeles airport en route to Rarotonga
so by the time we landed it had already happened. We just went to bed in the hostel, completely oblivious while my family and friends were trying to find out if I was stuck in LA, diverted to somewhere else or what

I was in Oxford for an interview thing
planning on going to London the next day to see one of my friends, which I proceeded to do...by train then tube.

The mood on the tube was a bit strange to say the least, you coul see everyone keeping one eye on the chap wearing a turban with a large bag sat at his feet

I was in maths,
and our maths teacher wouldn't let us listen to the news.
