In that case
They're rubbish!

You'll miss the crowds anyway, which is preferable.

I had a lovely week there with my so called wife
It was rather classy. First time I ever tipped a waitress was there, she was ace - doing knob jokes while bringing the pudding

there are loads of B&Bs all the way up Minto Street,
that will probably start emptying as soon as the festival finishes.

I've been in the Carlton for Christmas dinner before, that was nice, can't say anything about the rooms or prices though. Same also for the Bruntsfield Hotel.

depends on what you want
and what your budget is to be honest.

do you want city centre or out of town? what do you plan to do when you're there?

I predict he won't want anything too fussy.
