There are good current bands around but they are probably aren't played on the radio much- it's up to you to find them. One of the things about interactive entertainment is that you have the ability to look for things that you like, rather than just consuming whatever comes to you- so do it.

Bands aren't good because no one has heard of them. While I don't rate bands on their popularity, there is enough diversity played on the radio to keep most people entertained.

So, if you don't like what the traditional media feed you, then go and find something that you do like.
