A condensed version of Monty Python with their best sketches would be the greatest sketch show ever produced.
As it is, there's a lot of chaff in there.

However, I am failing to think of a better sketch show, as a rule they're fucking awful.

Sadly one that got weaker and weaker with every series though.
Towards the end it was dire.

Pretty much everything worth watching since Python owes a lot to it;
having said that, some of their sketches were fairly mediocre, especially, in my opinion, the hallowed Parrot Sketch.

Just watched a DVD of the Armando Iannucci Shows this week. That's pretty good too, if it can properly be considered a sketch show. Or otherwise.
