Yeah, but these big manufacturers swap old plans around all the time
Daewoo Nexia is an Opel Astra, Daewoo Espero was an Opel Ascona, Mazda 121 was an old Ford Fiesta (yes, I know, Ford own Mazda); it wouldn't surprise me if the crafty Asians didn't buy a redundant blueprint or go 50/50 on the design for exclusive production rights on each continent.
