you have to be Catholic to be Pope
and Catholics have to be named after saints (my baptism certificate lists my names in a different order to my birth certificate because my first name isn't a saint's name)

Not necessarily a Saint's name,
it's at the priest's discrescion. Here in Ireland lots of people have traditional (non saintly) Irish names and are baptised in them aswell.
