I do that.
I have been known to try and pick things up by using the mouse in especially spacey moments, too. Or to move the cursor onto the TV to point to things.

i tend to swat them with paperwork

and then regret it for the rest of the evening. Trying to work out if that smudge is a carcass or part of the page layout.

I have a trackball and a mouse on the desk
both wireless, I grab whichever I find easiest, and I have just got a new ugly phone that I keep grabbing and swirling round the wondering why the cursor is stuck. Look at it and you will see the confusion.
