Buy it
You can never have too many amps. I know these things.

My Marshall amp is buggered. And sounds a bit pants.
I want a Vox valve amp.

Yep, I'm buying one.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:09, archived)
Do it!
I had a JCM2000 TSL122. Twas sexy.

Edit: valve FTW.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:10, archived)
Classic amp, that.
I'm just after a relatively cheap Vox, they sound brill and I've always wanted one.

Anything you would recommend? I'd love a JCM2000 but I can't afford that.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:13, archived)
Vox are great
I really liked a couple of the smaller Orange valve amps I playedabout with in my local music shop a couple of months ago too. I cant remember the model numbers off the top of my head.

The JCM2000 was amazing but huge, and too loud to play at home. I also needed money for rent. I sold it for a fucking song too.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:16, archived)
I don't like Voxs.

Get a nice Marshall 100w JCM2000 Triple Super Lead, we've got two and my lead guitarist just bought a nice Marshall EL34 100/100 Power Amp, Voodoo system, and effects replicator, meaning any sound from any amp ever can be made, sounds sick :D
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:14, archived)
Again I'd love one, but they're not cheap
I'm on a budget of £300-400 at the most
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:18, archived)
Stretch to this?

Oh I wish I could :(

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:22, archived)
mine's going for £300

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:21, archived)
Good price, get it advertised.
Too big for me, I have to cart it round to and fro.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:23, archived)
JCM2000 was an amazing amp.
Too loud for practicing mind
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:18, archived)
We cart them down the studio every week with out 2x 4x12 1960a cabs >:D
Man, I go so deaf but need the gear for festivals and outdoors gigs.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:20, archived)
Nice!
I used my Marshall for gigging, I also got given a 70's 4x12 Marshall cab too. I just didn't have space for it all when I stopped gigging.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:22, archived)
Ooooooo nice!
Would love an old Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks in it but they are impossible to track down, no one wants to get rid of them and rightly so :S
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:24, archived)
Fucking hate Marshall.
Get summat Orange.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:17, archived)
Oh Wow :(

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:18, archived)
Marshall bore the tits off me.
They're cats eyes.

I know, I know. I know nothing, I'm a woman, get the fuck off the stage, what's she doing there yadda yadda yadda.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:19, archived)
Personnal opinon and all that ;)
I think they are so versatile compared to any other, that's why I like them :)
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:23, archived)
They're middle of the road for me.
The only Marshalls I've ever owned have been free.

Alright, penis owners, I'm wrong. Whatever.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:25, archived)
Not wrong, just opinons as what you said babe :)

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:31, archived)
:D
I think I'm just drawn to other companies- I play a spector bass through a Hartke amp.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:33, archived)
I think so too
My Marshall coped really well with everything from soft creamy blues sounds to balls out rawk overdrive.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:25, archived)
I had a Marshall MG30DFX.
:(

It broke so I got it fixed, and it immediately broke again
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:19, archived)
Orange are the shittest of the shit.
and I know what shit is.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:19, archived)
Opinions on the internet, eh?

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:21, archived)
Orange are fucking great amps, but the gain gets too muffled for our style.
great for the britrock sound though.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:22, archived)
:P that's not exactly my favourite sound for an amp to make.
I understand they're great at some things, but for me. shit.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:23, archived)
So for YOU, they're shit.
However I'm bored of the thrashy treble-up-your-arse sound. I prefer to mix things up a bit, certainly with the style we play we have scope to do some.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:24, archived)
yeah.
You don't have to add that to opinions, as it's quite obvious it was one.

and to your edit:

I don't like that sound so much any more. If I could afford a Mesa Boogie dual rec I'd get one, but as such the marshall I've got is pretty much the most versatile one.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:25, archived)
there's a difference between shit in general
and shit for some things. Fuck sake, never mind.

I'd not buy Mesa, they're far too expensive for what they are, IMO. Poseramps, we used to call them when the mister's ex guitarist had one.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:25, archived)
I'd also like a peavey 5150

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:29, archived)
The Mr plays through one.
The old one with the signature on it.
(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:32, archived)
I like him.

(, Mon 15 Jun 2009, 16:33, archived)
So do I.
