How do you get contacted for voice work?
Agency? Online portfolio?

psychics

Neither.
It's not something I do a huge amount of, probably due to a lack of the options you mentioned. There are a few companies who ask me from time to time, and they'd know me through production/presenting work I've done in the past.

I just answered a online ad for vo work
many years ago mind but I did make it into a game once.

you would have once
it was for a olde quake mod that was to be professionally published....however the voice over stuff did get used in Battlecruiser Millennium.

I have the songs on mp3 somewhere.

jus' kiddin'
i don't actually want to shoot you
that's pretty cool though. i wouldn't like to do VO stuff due to having a quite offensively dull voice

I just read that saunas give you headaches.
This is somewhat unfortunate.

i know
i went to finland. which is like saunaland. but i couldn't go in any

That's even mroe unfortunate.

I did a voice for a game a while ago.
It was a very low budget PC detective game. My character had a bomb in his goatee apparantly. I got a free copy of the game but never got as far as my character's scene. It was low budget for a reason.

Ah, the ol' "it's who you know" schtick, huh?
Well, still, any advice for an eager budding voice actor like me?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 13:52, archived)
I'm not in a position to listen to that right now.
And in general, no I don't.
As I said, this isn't something I do a huge amount of.
The only thing I can say is general actor advice; be as helpful as possible, and remember that your opinions don't count, you've been hired to do what the director says, not to think.

Righto then.
Ta.

Also remember that agencies for VO work get more demos than they know what to do with.
Many agencies admit that if you send them a demo it'll take over a year before they'll get round to hearing it.
