Good evening all :)
20-20 hindsight: make a list of all the programs you have downloaded now, just in case your computer dies.
It takes AGES to re-download them all again should the worst happen... my computer just doesn't feel like home at all!

/HD crashed, now running on new shiny 120Gb drive blog

or:
keep everything you download and dump them onto DVDs every now and then.
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:14, archived)
Or maintain a small 2GB harddrive
and dump the .exe there every time you update/install something
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:15, archived)
eh?
but DVDs are like two removeable 2gig drives which take up less physical space...

WITCHCRAFT!

although, to be fair
it is easier to remember to do this with a HDD, and hard to lose!
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:18, archived)
well maybe
but i'm quite an organised and tidy person.
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:19, archived)
Ah.
I'm not. And dreading the day when I need to re-install everything.

This
and also, HDD you can replace your Firefox 10.03.6.4.567 with 10.03.6.4.568 so you always have an up-to-date one. Unless you use DVD-RW, which is officially the work of Alchemists.

But they're not incremental.

i don't care
i'd rather keep my HDs tidy for other uses (ie audio recording, and mp3s)
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:21, archived)
Yeah, but 2GB
is really useless for most purposes. And you dont' want to be accessing ancient HDDs too frequently or they die the death of dogs.

I'm now planning a bit of a rebuild
another new HD, better motherboard, bit more RAM and a DVD writer should cover my needs for another three years :)
(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:18, archived)
well it does give the chance to fill up your music and porn collections with lovely shiny new things

(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:15, archived)
They have porn on comupters now?
Where might a discerning gent about town purvey some of this filth?

(, Fri 8 Jul 2005, 19:18, archived)
