If you were serious about that green britian rubbish, why not scrap it and save spending more money on something which is proving to be alrady expensive?

What other species do you have out your way? We don't get dunnocks here- house sparrows, blackbirds, pigeons, jays and rooks is about the sum total. A few grey herons too but not seen one of those for a while.

er, usual tits, that is, blue tits, great tits and coal tits
the aforementioned shufflewing, blackbirds, a reasonably friendly thrush i also feed, sparrows nesting in the eaves of the house next door and lots of babies in the garden atm, pied wagtails, robins, these are quite fun to feed too, crows, rooks, jackdaws, i sometimes leave some meat out for them early before people start moving about as they're very edgey and rarely come later on. wood pigeons, owls, and several types of bop, kestrels, kites and buzzards and all that

I've not seen a jackdaw for years.
They're fairly common where I come from, less so where I live. Actually I noticed the other week that the swallows were back. They used to nest in the eaves of my parents' house and I've always had a particular soft spot for them.

loads of swallows where i lived in spain, nesting in some of the streets in the old town.
big pro swallow movement at the mo here with new buildings incorporating 'nest bricks' basically hollow bricks for them and many off the shelf swallow nesting boxes you can buy and put up yourself. it's an offence to disturb nesting sites these days i think, especially if they're active. good job. i get some bats here as well.
