Sounds like a poor people problem, no matter when I ring there is an appointment usually the same day.

It's quieter where I live now
But even in deepest darkest Pompey I never struggled to get a same day appointment. I mean, I can't say that I always saw a decent doctor, but that's a separate issue

when I moved to Bethnal Green I went to the surgery up the road to register
they told me not to, as it was taking a month to see a GP

My doctor got a load of new patients a few years ago
When the surgery in the village hired a doctor who had been sent from the dwp. People with chronic and even life-threatening illnesses were suddenly being declared fit for work
