I've bought my kid a Squier Telecaster for her birthday in July, it turned up yesterday
I gave it a quick go and it seems to plays as well as my genuine Fender too. She's going to be chuffed to bits

PS I had no idea you could even spend £40 on a set of bass strings

LaBellas can go for a lot more £70+
but they're flat wound so you'll probably replace the neck before the strings.

I thought I'd try out a set of Elixirs, they've got a coating so they stay bright longer and they do have a very nice, slick feel. Much nicer than Rotosounds that feel like curled up nail files. Urgh.

I'd really love a tele
as much as I like my guitar the notes all sort of blend, you don't get anywhere near the articulation and clarity you do with a telecaster and they are fucken' solid things.

yeah it's the best guitar I've ever owned, by a long shot
I got it for an amazing price via a FOF who worked at a rehearsal studio, some dude was selling all his stuff to go travelling and I think I paid something like £200
