I've been scammed a couple of times but not for any life chaning sums.
If you notice you're being scammed in time it's very easy to get your money back, especially on ebay. I expect it's harder on Amazon where 90% of products sold are fake anyway.

I buy almost daily... never had any issue, except when a dodgy van driver steals things.
