This is a question "You're doing it wrong"

Chthonic confesses: "Only last year did I discover why the lids of things in tubes have a recessed pointy bit built into them." Tell us about the facepalm moment when you realised you were doing something wrong.

When I taught EFL, I used to use
"PHOTI", and tell the kids how it's pronounced "fish"

That was fun.

Mind - teaching grateful, well-behaved foreign kids - ace.

Having your own English corrected by a 12yo Romanian - Priceless.

Surely women isn't pronounced "wimmin"
Or am I doing it wrong?

What if there are 3 women sucking my cock?
How do you pronounce it then?
(, Mon 19 Jul 2010, 18:09, closed)
I'd pronounce it "youluckbastard"
Ok, got you.

EDIT: Actually I'm being a massive spaz, women vs woman. The first is obviously wimmin. I should sleep more.

Yes.
Mind PHOTI would work too.

But yes I do. I can't remember - it was 15 years ago.

PHOTI has the fractional disadvantage for Shaw's purposes
that PH actually looks like how it sounds. It's GHOTI, folks.
(, Mon 19 Jul 2010, 16:26, closed)
Indeed it is
I have the fingers to prove it.
(, Mon 19 Jul 2010, 20:19, closed)
Aiee! Goatee fingers!
That's just unnatural!
(, Tue 20 Jul 2010, 12:28, closed)
Better than goatse fingers
...but then so is almost anything
(, Tue 20 Jul 2010, 12:36, closed)
I use 'GHOTI'
when I'm teaching Poems from other Cultures and Traditions.
