There are so few martial arts films out there with genuinely original and decent fighting. Ong Bak was a minor game-changer when it came out, especially as Tony Jaa did most of his own stunts. The Raid has some great sequences in it as well.

Tom Yum Goong is worth a watch, although not quite as good. I need to watch The Raid 2, at some point, too - I really like well choreographed, close quarters fights, which The Raid had in spades (Burn Notice managed to squeeze in one per season, and there were a few good ones in Daredevil, too).

Actually, I've got this wrong.
Something technically poor but widely popular is something completely different.
The work of, say, Michael Bay, or the Twilight franchise, belong in this category, and their neither cult classics, nor "so bad it's good", they're just shit.

Yeah, I'd go along with this.
Something like The Beast of Yucca Flats is "so bad it's good" because of the almost total lack of effort or resources that went into making it. Michael Bay spends untold millions of dollars and genuinely thinks he's making works of art rather than shit films for cunts.

If they really did ditch the stop-motion effects in favour of CGI, they have understood nothing about what made the original great.
Rob Bottin worked every single day for over a year on the effects in the original and had to be hospitalised for exhaustion after shooting had wrapped, but that kind of sacrifice is worth it when you deliver an iconic product that can still hold its own against films made thirty years later.

Well, just because some people's motivation to support Brexit is because of their racism doesn't make it a racist event in itself.
I don't want to leave the EU, by the way, but there is definitely an argument that all the leftie hand wringing about brexiteers being racist and or stupid is not helping in trying to at least move people toward a less severe brexit. It's probably making them double down.

This is the argument put forward to explain the election of Donald Trump.
Instead of engaging with potential Trump voters and asking them what their day-to-day concerns were, it was easier to label them all as racist rednecks, which in turn made them feel they were worth even less in the eyes of the system.

I think this is pretty much where labour went wrong during Gordon Brown's stint as PM.
Rather than tackle concerns over immigration and jobs, it was just brushed aside as petty racism and allowed to fester. Probably helped Brexit along quite nicely.
