# WELL THIS IS WHAT I DO, OK?
1. Save the Youtube Vid Using Firefox 'Fast Video Download'
2. Extract the video using FLVExtract
3. Convert to MPEG4 Using AllToAvi
4. Convert selected part to FLV again using Riva FLV Encoder
5. Convert to Animated Gif using SWF & FLX Toolbox
6. Muck about with it in Fireworks

I'm now using MPlayer, so...
1) Use Keepvid to download youtube flv.
2) Play in MPlayer
3) Hit shift+D to make continuous screen grabs
4) Open in paint.net and edit.
