Formby was in 30 Commando Assault Unit
and was considered one of the top snipers in the British military. Was all off the record though due to the hush-hush nature of 30/AU.
It was while sniping a German light infantry squad single-handedly that the sun appeared from behind the clouds just as he shot the last soldier. It was then that he developed the catchphrase "Turned out nice again!" which stuck with him throughout his dual careers.

"When I'm cleaning windows" = coded reference to sniping indoors targets as soon as they appeared at a window
"With my little stick of Blackpool Rock" was about the time he blew up a munitions dump with rolls of plastic explosive.
