I'd say worth a punt,

Maybe take names, shove them on a google spreadsheet and get people to fill in how far they've got as they do it.
That way other people can jump in if it's going tits up for someone.

Nah, just thinking, you know, I believe you are looking for a job and career in graphic design, and I dunno, perhaps designing a logo which was chosen as the "winning" one for a charity might look good for future employers, they love that sort of thing. You know, using your skills even when out of work, for a non-profit organisation.
