and admit that while I understand the term "ris" from context, from what is it derived? The etymology I mean.
Pardon the irony.

Someone posted an image with the "RIS" blanked out, and someone said something like "I dont get it, can someone explain it"
or something similar.

as if the neon lights had gone out to display the word Moron - but someone replied "RIS? I don't get it" and it caught on - the latest one was one of a Police Car in a disable zone at a supermarket and Prodgidy69 commented "Triple Points Weekend?" deliberately and comically missing the point and referring to the sign in the background. So any Real Photo Sunday (RPS) images that are now posted are often accompanied with "RIS?" "Triple Points Weekend!" or "Why am I looking at a picture of your *insert funny remark*"

It (the film) actually has an alternate ending, its better than the theatrical one.
However (like lots of his films) it drags on for about 14 and a half weeks when you watch the directors cut.
The endings better though if you have a spare 3 and a half months, I couldn't find it with a quick Youtube search (possibly too long for Youtube) but I am sure its out there.
