anyone looking at b3ta on a mobile phoneis asking for fucking enormous data charges and frankly deserves what they get. but there are people on capped broadband and b3ta alone can use up quite a bit of that.
plus i tend to feel it's just simple reasonable manners to optimise something as far as possible. alas, they raised the file-size "limit" from an arbitrary 50k to an equally arbitrary 100k, so everyone posts pictures that are a WHOLE 100k big!!!! there's no craftsmanship anymore.
