The Normans (French), The Saxons (Also Saxony as was, now France), Celts (French/Germanic), The Romans (Italians), Vikings (Norway and Scandinavia) seems we are a mixed bag of everything.

the most surprising thing is if you look at the genetics you find we've been roughly the same thing all along, and that both the "Saxon" "invasions" and the nature of "Celts" in particular are a bit specious...

...but a little bit of it might go in. I guess I'm just trying to say that finding and jailing people who use racist language on twitter isn't exactly dealing with the problem of race relations in Britain. Such views are entrenched deeply in society and making a victim of someone with those views will only serve to solidify the position of those others who hold similar views.
