[challenge entry] Have this :D

Proper non-pea entry coming soon.

Oh by the way, does anyone here know anything about hand-drawn, frame-by-frame animation?

# you mean a flick-book?

# Sort of like the ones JollyJack does.
So not strictly hand-drawn, but you know what I mean. :P

# You mean frame-by-frame as in comic book style?
Not animated in any way

# Nah, sort of like, each frame of the GIF is individually drawn.
(, Fri 6 Apr 2012, 16:59, archived)
# What are you asking though?
If you're working on paper, make sure the paper is thin and the drawings are thick, to give you a reference for the next frame. If you're on a computer life is a lot easier, since you make each frame a layer, and set the new layer at 50% opacity (or less) while you draw it.

Then export as an animated GIF.

I must be missing something because typing all that seems very patronising....

# It's gonna be on the computer.
What I'm trying to say is, I'm wondering if there's any tips on animation itself. Like, motion lines and stuff.

# Ah, right
Beyond me, sorry, my efforts basically go as far as "scribble and hope".

# I'm no expert, but I'd imagine studying the old masters would help
Like download some old Disney cartoons and study them frame by frame

# Hmm, good idea.
I could also potentially analyze GIFs frame by frame. ^^

# Oooooh
I might have a go at it tonight; I haven't done anything like it in years, and even then it was a bit poo.

# Smart :D
It's just a case of if my idea is plausible, with my current animation skill.
(, Fri 6 Apr 2012, 18:08, archived)
# You can draw already. It's just a case of stacking drawings really.
I'm no expert. I'm self-taught, and all my animations are experiments. Most of them fail, but once in a while one will come out half decent. It's all trial and error.

# True, true.
With any luck, I'll have something by the end of the night. I know exactly what I want to animate, so I can hit the ground running. :)

# I'll keep an eye out for that now :D

# Isn't looking too bad so far :D
Here's what I've got up to now. Doubles as a facepalm .GIF.
