Spends th summer in Scandanavia and if things get particularly cold, or the berries run out, they can migrate in large numbers to the UK and the continent. It's been a good year for them over here.
They're the thing that got me into bird watching - walking to work one day in Glasgow and there were more than a hundred outside the office.

i remember a couple of years ago i was out and they were in some low trees right next to the path, everyone was walking past not noticing them and i was agog at how close to, what seems like, hundreds of them i was and they weren't batting an eyelid at my presence.
