# They come out at night, mostly.
My kids had them at nursery a few times. Easiest way is to get some worming tablets from the chemist and repeat for the whole family a few weeks later. And nuke your towels and bedding from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

# Really?
I had no idea this would be one of the consequences of children, I thought the children themselves were the parasites!

# They are indeed parasites
but they come out of the vagina instead

# Sadly, no, they come with a panoply of parasites.
Head lice is another regular visitor when your kids get to junior school. Mmmmm.

# Kids are like fast breeder reactors for all manner of horrible germs and they are not shy about passing it on to parents.
Kid a bit sick at nursery? Expect to have food poisoning and all the lovely associated symptoms yourself next day. Nobody tells you all this when you decide to have kids do they?

# When your mum is a nursery headteacher
it works the other way as well...I only ever caught headlice once and that was when her school had an outbreak :(

I have a cunning theory that it's simple chordless melodies that make the catchiest earworms. Anything relying on an interplay of instruments for its main theme is too complex to snag in the brain and seems to work as a cure. The theme from QI is another good earworm-breaker - it takes far too much concentration to keep it going in your head for it to just go off on its own.
