# 'Next up, Chancellor Patel's Two Minute Hate. Today, protesters, travellers and slightly annoying people'
Click for bigger (57 kb)
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 17:19, archived)
# A massive bunch of people crowded together and defying regulations devised to minimise virus transmission and save lives.
Should the police make exceptions whenever a group feels really strongly about something?
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 17:29, archived)
# OMG WHY DO YOU HATE WOMEN SO MUCH
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 17:30, archived)
# I was referring to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill being rushed through Parliament
which targets protesters, travellers and annoying people, amongst others.

If you were referring to the vigil and the police's response, well, that's another kettling of fish.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 17:39, archived)
# I was
and the way that MPs fell over themselves to blame everything on the Met. If they'd allowed everything to carry on without intervening and there was a massive surge in London cases, who would have got the blame?

"We'll change the national restrictions and guidance every 5 seconds until no-one knows what the hell they're doing, either the public or those put out there to keep law and order. We won't ever give them anything concrete to work within, insisting that everything should be proportionate and down to their own interpretation, and then whenever the public decide they've overstepped the mark we won't get any of the blame."
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 18:04, archived)
# To be fair, it seems there's a good chance it was the Met who murdered that lady.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 18:28, archived)
# I think that popular b3tan "brb" might scream racism at you if you start inferring that all police officers are the same.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 18:41, archived)
# Yeah but if one's done a bit of sex offending and murdering then there's a good chance that others could.
It's like with us GPs. Not all of us are mass murderers but Shipman proved that we could be so they had to make us do hundreds of hours of appraisals and revalidation since then to make sure we don't have time to go round murdering people any more.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 19:01, archived)
# So that's why it's impossible to get past the receptionist to see my doctor, you're all doing endless paperwork.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 19:18, archived)
# I don't tend to condone police officers killing people, then beating up the very people protesting being killed by the police.
Seems fucking weird to me that people are siding against these women. I guess some round here are being edgy and ironic, but fucking hell.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 21:50, archived)
# "People being killed by the police"? Fucking hell, yourself.
Sarah Everard's suspected murderer is a man who just happens to be a policeman in his day job. He didn't do the murder as part of his employment. Wording it that way draws an obvious comparison with black people regularly dying by the hand of US law enforcement. I don't recall seeing headlines in the UK about women frequently getting killed as a direct result of police action.

And who on here is "siding against" the women?
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 22:18, archived)
# Racist
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 22:34, archived)
# Racist AND misogynist, I should be cancelled and banned
then murdered
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 22:39, archived)
# Well perhaps this one time we can just say how ‘problematic’ your attitude is
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 22:59, archived)
# I'd like to be better, really.
For instance, right now I can't grasp how sending the R number right back up, indirectly causing a few thousand extra deaths and extending the lockdown period even further is a good show of solidarity with others who don't feel safe walking home alone at night. But I know that viewing things in this way makes me a terrible person.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 23:13, archived)
# Honestly I’m a bit out of my depth dribble, I don’t know what an R number is, I’m such a fucking yank these days
More than 3 years since I was in the UK, no point since my mum died.
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 23:25, archived)
# You're not missing much, really
(, Mon 15 Mar 2021, 23:37, archived)
# bit harsh m8

# We're either a rubbish version of the US, or it's the other way round
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 2:04, archived)
# I remember I was in melbourne when it won some international poll as being the most "liveable city on earth" , whatever that means
I thought, "christ, the world must be really shit if this is as good as it gets"
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 3:17, archived)
# melbourne's a very nice city though
i like munich too, but i've not lived there.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 4:04, archived)
# trash, you mean?
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 3:58, archived)
# Are you actually outraged at the idea of women being safe, or the idea of women being political active, or what?
Are you getting upset by the wording or framing of reality, rather than being upset with the inequality inherent in the system? Why did you bring race and my name into this? Are you okay?
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 15:56, archived)
# Yes, reading back those posts again it's clear that my problem is women speaking up, rather than a super spreader event necessitating police intervention. You tit.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 16:23, archived)
# So you are protesting against women protesting against being unsafe, because it's not safe for them to do so.
May I assume you're against holding elections during a pandemic too?

Still curious as to why you brought race and my name into this discussion. Still seems like you're far from okay. Seems like you're being a bit of a virtue signalling culture warrior looking for an SJW punching bag, which is quite sad.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 17:44, archived)
# You were always a shit troll but this is pathetic even by your standards.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 17:54, archived)
# I've been off my game recently, it's true.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 18:22, archived)
# It’s gotten a bit personal, some of it gets to you. You’re not troll material really, you'd be better off just being nicer, like you are sometimes.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 19:31, archived)
# Thanks..?
I dunno if I make it personal, because I'm quite oblivious to a lot of subtext, and I'm hopeless at keeping track of who anyone actually is, or remembering the frank and lively conversations we might have had.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 20:20, archived)
# All I’m saying is, you now perfectly well how to get along with people if you want to.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 22:08, archived)
# You don't know that.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2021, 0:03, archived)
# See?
(, Wed 17 Mar 2021, 13:48, archived)
# Okay, that last sentence loses me completely.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 18:35, archived)
# We can work through it together if you like.
I think you are playing the role of Culture Warrior, and for that you need to conjure a foil, the Social Justice Warrior.

To signal the virtues you hold dear, you need to punch down against the arguments made by your weak enemy, who is simultaneously powerful because he represents the dominant liberal narrative you are rebelling against, with its disgusting obsession with politeness, equality and fairness.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 19:31, archived)
# I really do need to get out more.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2021, 20:05, archived)
# Unfortunately under the current circumstances, getting out more isn’t that simple any more. I think we’re all suffering from that to some degree.
