They already had warp drive in TOS.But anyway, the walls are made of pure neutronium and there's an impenetrable inverse graviphotonic shield surrounding them. Tunnelling under or travelling over them is prevented by a collapsing sparticle bombarded preon field held in absolute stasis, and we all know what interfering with that would mean.
