on the front page there is a link to broadband services or something like that...
whats so special about it?
does the uk not have broadband until recently?
(as i hit submit, this travels from along a dsl line to the b3ta server, all the way from texas... in the blink of an eye! woo! (yes, i love dsl and im not afraid to admit it)
oh, and how can you regular yourself here at b3ta if you are on dialup? would that be some sort of masochistic thing?

have been extortionatly priced up until March or so this year.
it used to be around £50 p/m with £150 set up fee etc, not what everyone can afford really.

i dont know how much my dsl line is costing, because its split 3 ways with my roommates and myself, and i dont bother to check since my check is all bundled with rent and electricity
but that must seriously suck for dsl to be so expensive over there
im sitting here thinking of why it could be so expensive and the only thing i can think of is the transatlantic cable... but i dont see that as being a very valid reason
why is it so expensive?
and why not get a satellite connection? they work almost anywhere and its always connected

i presume, because BT run a TOTAL monopoly over the nations phone exchanges / phone lines basically, if they don't drop the prices, nobody can, so therefore, i figure it'#s because they're greedy fuckers.

its all about the bling bling
they gotta get their fat paycheck and all that
yeah, i hate monopolies that overcharge for their services
*looks in the direction of microsoft(well, ok, so its not a monopoly, just industry standard... like potatoshop, and they can charge whatever the hell they want... cause i got xp for free (haha, no money for you!))*

...pure exploitation. Nothing to do with physical cost at all.
Anyway, it's getting cheap now.
Satellite is very expensive and only really an option for commercial use.
The big new transatlantic cable we had to put in just to carry all the extra b3ta traffic has put Europe in economic jeopardy though.
