[challenge entry] Big Duck

Largest wild duck.
This post also ends longest (personal) recorded absence from B3ta due to worlds worst luck with a PC (bought Nov 2002 and only now has the shop got it fixed). One complete swap, 3 new monitors, 3 CPU's, 2 sound cards, 2 hard drives, 3 graphics cards 1 swap of memory and 21 installations of on OS (yes..21 - 5 in one evening!).
It's good to be back!

# PEB wha?
Novatec...but in their defence, they have been very good with the customer support issue. They send someone out if they even think that I might have a problem now...I think they bugged my PC...if the monitor isn't bright enough, I go to adjust it...and the doorbell rings and one of the technicians is there...and he adjusts the brightness, makes me a cup of tea, vacuums the house (that makes yer ears pop, I tell ya!) feeds the cats and mows the lawn......NOW that is customer support!

# Ah!
Acyually no-one knows what the problem is, or was...or wis? Odd things that appeared to be totally individual kept failing...and I only wish I caused it, coz then I'd know!

# Legally
this company can put the product right and not refund you (small print - stated). As it is, I eventually put it to the company that if it fails again then they were to refund. In the end they repaired it and upgraded it. I can't fault them really, as the problems have been irratic, and hard to trace. They only occured now and then, so testing and soak tests didn't show them. Hats off though, as they do come out to fix it on site, no cost...and often with new goodies such as 480w power and 1gig DDR RAM....

# I wouldn't call a 480W PSU
a 'goody' on account of the sparky bill wot's gonna land on yer doorstep in a month or a quarter's time :)

# Hmmmmm.....
It's like having a Ferrari...

Great car....no good across the fields though!

It depends if you want faultless power for all your add on bits, or a cheaper electric bill (mines pretty damn cheap anyway!)

And I have a Range Rover (very old tatty one...but better than a Ferrari across the fields!)...and no...I'm not a typical RR aloof owner!
