I heard once of a poor chap who tried to use a wet'n'dry vac as a "female substitute"... couldn't get enough suction through the hose, so he took it off and went straight for where it plugs into the body of the machine - without a thought for the mascerating blades that chop up hairballs and things!
of course, it may just be another urban myth...
