The rumours are that David Blaine won't stay in the box for the full 44 days. He is a master of publicity, and a huge fan of Houdini. Apparently after a short period of time (7 - 14 days) a pre-arranged accident will happen, e.g. the support cable snapping, and the box David Blaine is in will fall into the river and sink.... of course they will make a big thing that they locked him in the box at the start, so him escaping and being "rushed" to hospital will just create more media attention.
